Manifesting Isn't Magic: It's Your Nervous System Finally Getting On Board

Is manifesting woowo magic? Or is it just you finally having the confidence that you need to do the dang thing and trust the process and know that your higher power, whatever that may be, is working in your favor to help you get the things you want?

Is Manifesting Just Woowoo Nonsense?

Once upon a time, manifesting started becoming a more popular thing that people were talking about. My personal experience with it began with The Secret and the idea that like attracts like. Fair point, right? If you want to be rich and famous, you need to hang out with rich and famous people. Makes sense.

But then as I started digging deeper into manifesting, I was like… wait a minute. This seems like a bunch of woowoo nonsense. You just picture the thing that you want, create a vision board with exactly what you're after, visualize it, say some affirmations, and then poof you just magically get it? No. That’s impossible.

Then something changed for me.

I was on this coaching call about goal setting, and they talked about how important it is to write your goals in the present tense as if you already have the thing. And I was like, okay, that's interesting. They explained that it basically tricks your brain because while your brain is great and amazing and wonderful at a lot of things, it's also kind of stupid sometimes. And we can actually use that to our advantage. Case in point → goals in the present tense.

I was on board with that idea, but I was still skeptical of manifesting overall. This still just seemed like a bunch of woowoo nonsense that I didn't understand.

And then I learned about the actual laws of manifestation.

When I read them, I was like: wait a minute... Wait a minute here. We are not doing magic. We’re changing our mindset.

What's Really Holding You Back (Hint: It's Not Lack of Magic)

The thing that's holding us back from what we want in our lives is not lack of manifesting power. It's not lack of woowoo. It’s not praying to the wrong gods or lighting the wrong candles. It's not lack of any of that.

It's imposter syndrome.

It's our own freaking brains looking at the things we want and saying, I am not gonna be able to get that.

A new car would be wonderful, but I can barely pay my bills each month. So I'm never gonna be able to get a new car. That's ridiculous.

I think I would be a great fit for this new position that just opened up at my job. But there's no way I would be able to get it because so-and-so is much more qualified than I am. So there's just no point in even applying for it.

I would love to live in the country. But that's just not the life for me. I'm never gonna be able to get that.

That sounds great, but it's never gonna happen for me.

All those little "buts" that show up are imposter syndrome.

Understanding Imposter Syndrome (She's Just Trying to Keep You Safe)

Now before you start coming at your imposter syndrome with fire and pitch forks, I need to gently encourage you to be kind to her. She truly just wants to keep you safe. She wants to make sure you’re comfortable, and she knows that if you stay where you are, you don't have to take any risks, so nothing bad can happen. There's nothing unknown about where you are right now.

The patterns that keep repeating are consistent, and we have become comfortable with them. So why would we want to do something different?

We would rather stay here because it is safe and it is cozy and it is comfortable. Yeah, there may be some parts we hate and some things we're sort of miserable about, but at the end of the day, we'd much rather deal with the pain that we know than the pain that we don't know. Because taking a risk is scary.

So please set down the pitchforks. I promise that as annoying as she may be, that imposter syndrome is just there to keep you safe because she cares about you and wants you to be okay. And she knows that if you stay here, you will be okay, because you have always been okay and you will always be okay.

But we know that you can do more.

We know that once you get through those scary hurdles that you have to jump over to get into a new place in life, oh my goddess! You are gonna be living, and it is going to be amazing and awesome and wonderful!!

But how do we get from here to there?

How Manifesting & Spiritual Practices Help Us Handle Imposter Syndrome

This is where the laws of manifestation come in.

To put it simply:

You look at the laws. → You stop doing what doesn’t align with them. → You start doing shit that does.

And then your MINDSET changes!!

But what about woowoo stuff?

Well, you see… sometimes it’s hard for us to believe that we ourselves are capable of doing things all on our own, right?

So we ask for help.

Whether your higher power is God and your thing is praying,
or you're into witchy stuff and you have crystals & tarot cards,
or you're working with gods & goddesses and lighting candles & doing rituals…

whatever your path may be, whatever it is that YOU believe is what's going on with the world, all of that can help boost your confidence because it takes the pressure off of you and puts it somewhere else.

And sometimes, we need that. We need to believe that something bigger than us is working in our favor. Whether that's a spiritual practice, the universe, God, or your own intuition, it doesn't matter. What matters is that it helps you believe.

Belief in Yourself Is the Secret Ingredient

At the end of the day, if you don't believe you deserve it, you prolly ain't gonna achieve it. And no God or Goddess or ancestor or spirit guide or tarot deck or goat sacrifice can help make that magically happen.

But what CAN help is having guidance from someone who’s been where you’re at and made it through to the other side. (Shameless plus… Hi 👋🏻, that someone could be me. 😬 I work 1:1 with women to figure out what’s getting in the way of you living your dream life so you can make your manifestations come to fruition.)

And another thing… some people don't even know what it is they're trying to manifest. I've been there many, many times myself. Sometimes we don’t know what dreams are possible because we don’t know what we’re even allowed to want, because we're too set in the ways of “well, I gotta follow the rules.” When the truth is…

You Get to Decide What You Want

Maybe you grew up with a dream of having a fairytale wedding, and starting a perfect little family because the rules were that you need to want a spouse of the opposite gender so you could have 2.4 children and a white picket fence in front of your two story house in the country.

But actually, no. You don’t need to follow that rule. You absolutely do not.

If you want to do that, and it truly is your dream, I genuinely love that for you, and I'm here for you, and I will support you in achieving that dream. But if you don't want that… Then buckle up, because we are gonna figure some shit out. You get to decide what you want. Not society. Not your family. Not some rulebook you think you have to follow.

You.

So… back to the original question… is manifesting woowoo magic, or is it just you finally believing in yourself?

If you haven’t gotten the hint already, it's the belief in yourself and the permission you give yourself to want what you actually want and go after it. The laws of manifestation are just the tools that help you get there.

Ready to figure out what you actually want and remove the blocks holding you back?

I work with women one-on-one to help them rewire their beliefs, align their nervous system with their goals, and finally go after the life they deserve.
